Australian Red Cross - Docklands Melbourne

The fourth project completion for Australian Red Cross

Australian Red Cross

JDV Projects have successfully completed its fourth project for the Australian Red Cross (ARC), further strengthening a trusted project delivery partnership across NSW, South Australia, Queensland, and Victoria. This collaboration has enabled another seamless project delivery, ensuring that each location enables the Red Cross’s humanitarian mission to support those in need, including disaster agency support in times of crisis and natural disaster.

This latest project, the relocation of the Australian Red Cross National and State Office in Melbourne, was a significant undertaking with multiple stakeholders beyond ARC.

Located on Flinders Street in Docklands, the Australian Red Cross project involved a collaborative working relationship with design and management firm MODA Design to create this new office space spanning over 3,300m². Integrated into a single project engagement was the lessor scope of works for Peakstone and Artefax Property Group, including a sub-tenancy creation and services separation as well as services infrastructure installations to the 500m2 ground floor training area which was initially a cold-shell created from a previous carparking area.

JDV Projects were initially engaged in an Early Contractor Engagement (ECI) role, providing due diligence and cost planning advice on shortlisted locations before the final location and commercial terms were agreed. This ECI engagement continued through the design phase whereby JDV engaged and managed all services and fire engineering design consultants, including alt-solutions for extended travel distances, the certifying authority as well as managing all statutory and lessor approvals. Working collaboratively with the architectural design team at Moda Design through the evolution of design and documentation, the JDV team led the value engineering process to ensure ARC’s budget objectives and critical project timelines were achieved, enabling a seamless on-time relocation from the previous Villers St location.

We are so grateful to the Australian Red Cross for entrusting JDV Projects with this significant project. Through strong client relationships and agile problem-solving, JDV continues to deliver on our mantra of “Outstanding Projects and Enduring Relationships”.

With a strong focus on inclusiveness throughout the organization, this new workplace includes several features not always found, including:

  • A dedicated first aid/sick room,
  • A decompression room,
  • A multi-faith prayer room,
  • Gender neutral amenities,
  • Enhanced accessible amenities with power operated doors.

Additional project features include:

  • A large reception and arrival space with multiple interview rooms,
  • A range of various meeting venues, from a 24 person boardroom complete with video conferencing facilities, to multiple smaller meeting rooms down to two person meeting pods,
  • Flexible training areas that can be rapidly reconfigured with operable walls into activation and command centres in times of crisis activation,
  • A large fully equipped breakout space and multiple refreshment stations throughout,
  • First Aid training rooms which can cater for simultaneous groups of 30
  • participants, or 60 participants when combined.

Thank you to the Australian Red Cross for the opportunity to contribute to their mission and help them continue their vital role in our communities. We are proud to have delivered our fourth project to budget and exactly on time for Australian Red Cross. In addition, we are equally proud to support the valuable work that Australian Red Cross do by making a $50,000 donation.
