The Brain & Spine Surgery, Dr Prashanth Rao, The Bond

Located in The Bond at Norwest, the Brain & Spine Surgery for Dr Prashanth Rao is a state-of-the-art medical practice that harmonises with the building’s innovative and environmentally conscious design. Collaborating with Studio Sestra, the design aimed to create a warm, inviting space that aligns with The Bond's architectural ethos.

Dr Rao's brief emphasised the need for a welcoming environment that resonates with the building’s unique characteristics. To achieve this, the design team thoughtfully matched the timber joinery with the exposed engineered timber beams and columns, resulting in a harmonious blend of materials. The palette of finishes in pink and cream hues was selected to infuse the space with warmth and comfort, contributing to a soothing environment for patients.

The practice is thoughtfully arranged with three consulting rooms, a treatment room, and a reception and waiting area. The design emphasises comfort, flexibility, and privacy, ensuring a positive experience for every patient.

The engineering of the fitout ensured that all installations met stringent seismic and safety requirements and integrated with the building’s advanced systems. Close collaboration with base building engineers and contractors was key to aligning the interior fitout with The Bond’s high-performance standards.

The successful completion of the practice underscores the collaborative effort between design, engineering, and JDV’s fitout team, resulting in a medical facility that prioritises the patient experience and integrates with The Bond's architectural identity.
