Notre Dame is a private Catholic University, extending from the West Coast of Australia in the beautiful and historic City of Fremantle, to the North-West town of Broome and across the continent to the heart of Sydney. JDV were approached to assist the Facilities Manager here in Sydney to upgrade their medical simulations rooms in there Broadway Campus. JDV Projects were engage to deliver 2 x levels of Nursing Simulation Wards which replicates hospital wards for the School of Nursing at the Darlinghurst Campus. This training facility had to be complete for the commencement of the new year intake to accommodate the extra nursing training spaces offered by the University of Notre Dame. The project was on an extremely tight program and a contract was issued the week prior to Christmas with works commencing the day after New Year leaving very little time for the team to complete their trade letting The scope of works was to demolish a lecture theatre on level 2 as well as 2 existing rooms on level 6. An 8 bed Nursing Simulation Ward was created on level 2 along with a simulation bathroom and storerooms. An complex AV System was installed with cameras which monitored students carrying out various tasks as part of their training. On level 6, an 11 bed ward was created with storage facilities and the same AV System. Floors had to be levelled, face brick walls had to be sheeted and set to accommodate hospital grade sheet vinyl to floors and up the walls. New joinery units were installed with 16mm Trespa tops were installed and medical service rails with oxygen delivery, blood pressure monitors and iPads had to be installed above all beds to replicate a real ward scenario |
